Lost

The local newspaper headed the story: Rafter Lost, Search Party Continues. They found two of the girls half-dead by the river, but one was still missing, so they started dredging the cold, deep waters. But they wouldn’t find Sheryl Reynolds. She was dead and I had a chance to start over.

    Ooh, creates more questions than answers. She must have been prepared for it, did she cause the raft to capsize, she wouldn’t have known whether they would be half-dead, or fully dead. Like it a lot, nice piece.

    Ah… So much with so very little. Sounds like the first graf to a great noir tale.
